Every year since 2007, as part of our role as the official representatives of Cannes Lions, we hold an event in Nigeria usually in the month of September tagged “Cannes Lions Rewind”. This year’s event is planned for the 8th of September 2011. The aim of the event is to review, be challenged and inspired by the winning works from the Cannes Lions Festival that held in June.
The event creates an opportunity to relive the exciting moments of the Festival especially as it affects Nigeria’s participation and follow the progress of our young professionals in the Young Lions Competition. We have facilitated the trip to France for about 20 young Nigerian professionals under the programme to experience world-class advertising. We hope that very soon Nigeria will begin to win medals, awards and Lions in Cannes, so that this event will also serve as the platform for handing out the trophies, medals and certificates as only a few are presented in Cannes, the rest are usually dispatched to the various countries of the winners to be handled by their national representative.
Since last year, the Cannes Lions Rewind has also become a day for recognizing those in our industry who through our activities in Cannes Lions are helping to promote world-class creative communication standards in Nigeria.
